"Every child has a special light within, and when encouraged, that light shines brightly for the world to see."
Don Bosco Primary School, Matunga, celebrated “The Rising Stars” for the students of Grade I on 24th June 2026 with great joy and enthusiasm. The programme was thoughtfully designed to help children recognize their individuality, discover their hidden talents, and develop self-belief and confidence.
The celebration commenced with a lively and cheerful song centered on the theme of being special and unique. The students enthusiastically sang along and were encouraged to take pride in their individuality. This was followed by an engaging PowerPoint presentation that helped the children understand that every individual is gifted in a unique way and possesses talents waiting to be discovered and nurtured.
The highlight of the event was the “My Hidden Talent Sharing Time.” One by one, the students confidently came forward and introduced themselves. They shared their names, spoke about their strengths and talents, and expressed their future aspirations. This activity provided them with a valuable opportunity to build confidence and develop their public speaking skills in a supportive classroom environment.
The children also listened attentively to an inspiring story that emphasized the importance of self-worth, confidence, and believing in one’s own abilities. Through the story, they learned that every person is different and that these differences make each individual truly special.
Adding a creative touch to the celebration, the students participated in the “All About Me – T-Shirt Activity.” They completed personalized T-shirt templates by filling in details about their favourite colour, food, subject, sport, book, and favourite place to visit. This engaging activity encouraged self-reflection and helped the children express their interests, preferences, and unique identities in a fun and meaningful way. The celebration of “The Rising Stars” was a meaningful and joyful experience for the children.
It helped them become more aware of their strengths and talents and encouraged them to appreciate themselves and others. To add more essence to the day, Mast.Rihaan Bhatti of Std. I – highlighted that he felt special and happy when he danced to the song – I am Special. From I – B Mast. Troy Shetty shared that he enjoyed sharing his hidden talent with his friends and he loved doing the T-shirt activity about himself. Mast Kiaan Khandare and Mast. Christan Braganza of class I-C and I-D quoted respectively that they truly enjoyed the day and yes they were happy to learn that each child definitely held something unique within himself !
The celebration concluded on a positive note, leaving the students feeling valued, confident, and proud of who they are. “The Rising Stars” was a memorable experience that reinforced the message that every child is unique, capable, and destined to shine in their own special way.
