Teacher’s Day Celebration Sept’2025– Don Bosco High School, Matunga.
“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.” – Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
Teacher’s Day is a cherished occasion dedicated to honouring the invaluable role of teachers in shaping young minds and laying the foundation of society. In India, it is celebrated on 5th September each year to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan; an eminent philosopher, an inspiring teacher, and the second President of India. His deep respect for education and his belief that teachers are the true pillars of society continue to inspire generations.
The celebration at our institution began on 4th September 2025, with delightful gestures from the youngest to the oldest members of our school community. With innocence and enthusiasm, our boys expressed their gratitude by presenting handmade cards, roses, and thoughtful notes to their teachers. Some children proudly penned their own heartfelt messages, while others, with the loving support of their parents, created tokens of appreciation that conveyed the same sincerity. Though they may be too young to fully understand the significance of the day, their radiant smiles, eagerness, and pure affection captured the true spirit of Teacher’s Day. These special moments, immortalized in photographs, beautifully reflected the bond between teachers and their students. The PTA team also showed their appreciation to the teachers and the management, reinforcing the sense of community and gratitude that defines this occasion.
The next day, 5th September, began on a solemn and prayerful note with the Eucharistic service, setting a tone of reverence and gratitude. The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Flovi D’Souza, with co-celebrants including Rector Fr. Godfrey D’Souza, Fr. Ivan De Souza, Administrator Fr. Orville Coutinho, Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, and Fr. Augustine Silveira. Prayers of thanksgiving were offered for the dedication, commitment, and selfless service of teachers, who, day after day, devote themselves to guiding and nurturing their students. Following the Mass, the staff gathered for a group photograph in front of the church, an image that symbolized unity, joy, and shared purpose.
The celebrations continued with a vibrant cultural program held in the school gymnasium. The atmosphere was charged with energy and excitement as the Student Council, along with the Speech and Drama students, showcased their talents through graceful dances, melodious songs, and engaging games. Each performance was carefully prepared and served as a heartfelt expression of admiration and gratitude towards teachers. The enthusiasm and creativity of the students made the program truly memorable, leaving teachers with a sense of pride and fulfillment in witnessing the impact of their guidance.
A special highlight of the day was the honouring of retired teachers of the Don Bosco Institution. Their years of dedicated service were warmly remembered and celebrated, acknowledging the lasting legacy they have left behind in the lives of their students and the school community. The festivities concluded with a staff get-together that fostered joy, laughter, and camaraderie. Fun-filled activities, light-hearted moments, and shared conversations created a warm and celebratory atmosphere, allowing teachers to unwind and enjoy the recognition they so deeply deserve.
The Teacher’s Day celebration was not just a festive occasion but a profound acknowledgment of the patience, dedication, and passion that teachers bring to their noble vocation. It reminded everyone that teaching is more than a profession, it is a calling that shapes not only individual lives but also the future of society. The day stood as a heartfelt tribute to the guiding lights who, with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment, continue to illuminate the path of countless young learners.
