Std IV – Class Picnic to MUSO

Std IV – Class Picnic to MUSO

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” This quote perfectly captures the spirit of the one-day educational picnic organized for the students of Std IV of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, to the Museum of Solutions (MUSO), Lower Parel, on 17th September 2025. The aim of the visit was to provide students with experiential learning beyond the classroom through exploration, discovery and hands-on activities. The students gathered at the school premises at 8:30 a.m. full of excitement for the day ahead. After attendance and instructions, the students and teachers left from school at 9:00 a.m. On the way, breakfast was served, which the children enjoyed with their classmates.

The students were warmly welcomed by the staff at MUSO. The program began with an orientation by the museum educators who introduced the children to the theme and purpose of the visit. The students were divided into groups and taken through various interactive zones. The exhibits encouraged them to explore real-world issues through fun, discovery, and teamwork. Children engaged in activities that explained scientific concepts, environmental awareness, and social responsibilities in creative ways. The science section drew special interest, particularly with models explaining the water cycle, renewable energy, and the importance of dams in human life. The hands-on exhibits ensured that the students were not just observing but actively learning through participation. Lunch was served in the dining area. The students relished a wholesome meal and enjoyed sharing their experiences of the morning session with their peers and teachers. After lunch, the group assembled to prepare for departure.

Sharing his experience, Dakshitraj, a student of IV B, expressed, “I liked the place and it was amazing to know more about the water cycle and why dams are important.” His reflection highlighted the impact of experiential learning, where classroom concepts found real-life applications.
Mst. Reyansh Salunkhe and Mst. Shaurya Kadam from Std IV C enjoyed preparing the hand band, watching the movie ‘Puddle the Turtle’ and the activity at the play zone. Ms. Mohini Goshi, Class Teacher of Std IV B, remarked, “The visit was a perfect balance of fun and learning. It was heartening to see our students engage so enthusiastically with the exhibits and apply concepts they had learnt in class to real-life situations.”

The students reached school safely carrying with them memories of a day well spent. The picnic was not just a recreational outing but a rich learning experience, as it combined fun with knowledge, fostered teamwork, and encouraged children to think beyond the classroom. It was a day, that truly embodied the essence ‘Making is a journey rather than a destination.’
