Std III & IV English Elocution Competition 24th September,2025

The much-awaited English Elocution Competition for Std. III and Std. IV was held on 24th September, 2025 in Rev. Fr. Joseph Casti Hall amidst great excitement and eager anticipation. The event aimed at nurturing young voices, polishing their public speaking skills, and instilling in them the confidence to articulate their thoughts before an audience.
The participants of Std. III and IV recited poems of their choice. Std. IV recited poems on the theme of ‘cleanliness, organized as per the guidelines of the Education Department. The topics encouraged the children to think critically, express their ideas creatively, and deliver their poems with clarity and confidence. With well-prepared poems, clear articulation, and expressive gestures, the students impressed both the judges and the audience.
The panel of judges comprised of Mrs. Kanta Shinde, Mrs. Matilda Fernandes, and Ms. Lynette D’Lima, who shared their valuable insights and encouraged the children. Mrs. Matilda Fernandes, in her address, reminded the participants that participation is very important, not just winning, because it takes courage to come forward and speak in front of an audience. She also took a moment to appreciate the sincere efforts of the teachers who trained and guided the students.
Mrs. Shahnaaz Abbas, also shared her thoughts on elocution stating “Elocution is not just about speaking, it is about expressing ideas clearly. Using the right words, voice and gestures to connect with the audience. Children build confidence and improve their communication skills.” The Head Teacher, Mrs. Griselda Fernandes, extended a heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Shahnaaz for her graceful compering and to all the teachers for their tireless dedication in mentoring the participants.
Adding to the enthusiasm of the day, Mst. Prithvi Menon, a student of Std. IV D, shared his experience, saying, “I enjoyed the elocution competition a lot. I was nervous at first, but when I recited my poem, I felt confident. I enjoyed listening to my friends too.” His words reflected the true spirit of the event — not just competition, but growth, confidence, and shared learning.
The event was a resounding success, leaving every participant inspired and every spectator motivated. It truly reflected the school’s vision of encouraging students to develop not only academic excellence but also confidence and communication skills that will serve them well in life.
