Our Sr. KG students of Savio Kindergarten went on an exciting and educational field trip to the Dadar Post Office. The ongoing EVS topic for this term is Means of Communication, and this visit provided the children with a wonderful opportunity to understand the concept in an educational, informative, and practical way.
The children arrived at school cheerful and enthusiastic, eagerly looking forward to their visit. Their excitement was clearly visible as they boarded the bus and spoke about letters, stamps, and postmen.
On reaching the post office, the students were warmly welcomed by a kind officer who explained how letters and parcels are sent from one place to another. The officer showed them different counters and sections, helping them understand the step-by-step process — from collecting letters, sorting them according to areas, stamping them, and finally dispatching them for delivery. The children learned how important the postal system is in connecting people across cities, states, and even countries.
A special highlight of the visit was meeting a lady postwoman who spoke to the children about her daily duties and responsibilities. She explained how she delivers letters and parcels to homes and offices and how she ensures they reach safely and on time. The children were fascinated to learn that in earlier times postmen delivered letters on bicycles, whereas today many use motorbikes for faster delivery.
The students carefully observed the working environment of the post office, including the sorting area and the mailbags. They understood that even in the age of mobile phones and emails, letters and parcels still play an important role in communication.
The most exciting moment for the children was posting the letters they had brought from home. One by one, they dropped their letters into the post box with great joy and pride. This hands-on experience made their learning meaningful and memorable.
The field trip was both informative and fun-filled. It helped reinforce classroom learning and gave the children real-life exposure to the topic of communication. The students returned to school happy, enriched with new knowledge and wonderful memories of their visit.
