Spiritual Retreat - "The Spiritual Link between God and Man" & "Navigating the Challenges of Life"
Don Bosco High School, Matunga, organized a spiritual retreat on 6th August 2026 for the Catholic students of Standard IX and Standard X. The retreat aimed to strengthen students' relationship with God, provide scriptural guidance for life’s challenges, and foster spiritual growth through reflection, prayer, and community worship. The retreat for Std IX was based on the theme "The Spiritual Link between God and Man" and was conducted by Fr." Bosco.
The retreat for Std X was based on the theme "Navigating the Challenges of Life" and was conducted by Br. Royston and Br. Savio.
The retreat was introduced by the principal Rev. Fr. Flovi D’souza
Std 9
Theme: "The Spiritual Link between God and Man"
Resource Person: Fr. Bosco
The session for Std IX was divided into two interactive parts:
This session focused on making biblical knowledge engaging. Through activities, puzzles, and brain teasers based on the Bible, students tested and enhanced their understanding of faith. Fr. Bosco taught students about the different books and characters of the Bible, encouraging active participation and learning.
This session emphasized that faith is a personal relationship with God. Key areas covered:
- Talking and sharing with God through prayer
- Listening to God’s voice and implementing His ways in daily life
- Bible Study and Meditation as tools for spiritual growth
Fr. Bosco provided practical training on how to pray using the Bible and encouraged students to read at least one chapter of the Bible daily. The session also included videos on Jesus to help students reflect on His life, mercy, and compassion.
Std X
Theme: "Navigating the Challenges of Life"
Resource Persons: Br. Royston & Br. Savio
The session for Std X addressed real and relevant adolescent concerns through a faith-based approach. The retreat was structured around six reflective questions:
1. Why am I here?
2. Where is God when it hurts?
3. Why am I so worried and anxious?
4. How do I stop feeling lonely?
5. Why can’t I say No?
6. How can I learn to love my body?
For each question, relevant Bible verses were referenced to provide spiritual perspective and comfort. To promote self-reflection, worksheets were distributed after every two questions, allowing students to record personal thoughts and experiences.
The retreat had a profound impact on participants of both standards.
- Std IX students gained practical tools for prayer, scripture reading, and understanding faith as a living friendship with God.
- Std X students reported greater clarity on personal challenges and felt equipped to face difficulties with faith, self-awareness, and resilience.
The combination of talks, activities, meditation, scripture, and the Eucharist helped students internalize the message of God’s never ending mercy and compassion.
The day concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in the crypt, which coincided with the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, adding special significance to the event.
The spiritual retreat held on 6th August 2026 was a meaningful and well-executed program for Std IX and X. It successfully integrated interactive learning, scriptural study, personal reflection, and communal worship to deepen students' faith and prepare them to navigate life’s challenges.
