Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception-By Ms Jancy Dharamraj"Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you." — Luke 1:28On December 8, 2025, the Catholic students of both the primary and secondary sections of Don Bosco High School, Matunga, gathered devoutly at the Mary Help of Christians Shrine to celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. This feast, honouring Mary’s unique privilege of being conceived without sin, highlighted God’s extraordinary plan in preparing her to be the Mother of Jesus.Fr. Ajoy was the main celebrant of the Eucharist, joined by the Rector, Fr. Godfrey D’Souza, Fr. Flovi, the Principal, and Fr. Evangelo as concelebrants. Their presence added grace and solemnity to the celebration. In his homily, Fr. Ajoy beautifully reflected on God’s divine plan of salvation, explaining how Mary was preserved and protected by God from the moment of her conception. He emphasized that God’s plan is always perfect, and in His wisdom, He prepared Mary pure, undefiled, and full of grace to be the worthy mother of His Son, Jesus. The homily helped the students understand the depth of this feast and Mary’s essential role in salvation history. The assembly participated prayerfully as the readers proclaimed the Scriptures with reverence, and the choir enriched the liturgy through their uplifting hymns honouring Our Lady.Celebrating this solemn feast together strengthened the school community’s devotion to Mary and deepened their appreciation of God’s loving plan. The liturgy served as a reminder that, like Mary, we too are called to respond with faith and purity of heart to God’s purposes in our lives.
