Senior KG Field Trip to Wadala Fire Station

Safety is a vital life skill that empowers children to make responsible decisions and respond appropriately in different situations. Introducing safety awareness at an early age helps children develop confidence, responsibility, and respect for rules that protect themselves and others. With this objective, the Senior KG children of Don Bosco Pre-Primary School visited the Wadala Fire Station on 22nd July 2026 as part of their ongoing theme on Safety.

The children received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the firefighters, who introduced them to the fire station, its equipment, and the important role they play in safeguarding the community. The highlight of the visit was a live firefighting demonstration, where the firefighters showed the children how a fire is safely extinguished using specialised equipment. The demonstration filled the children with excitement and curiosity as they watched the brave firefighters in action.

The firefighters also explained, in a simple and interactive manner, how they respond to emergency calls, prepare for rescue operations, and work together to protect lives and property. They spoke about essential fire safety measures, the precautions to follow during a fire emergency, and the importance of remaining calm and seeking help from responsible adults. The children were fascinated to see the fire engines, safety gear, and firefighting equipment up close while gaining a deeper appreciation for the dedication and courage of the fire service personnel.

The journey itself became an extension of the classroom. The children observed traffic signals, zebra crossings, and road signs while learning the importance of walking safely on the footpath and never running on the road. They also identified examples of safe and unsafe road behaviour, reinforcing valuable road safety practices through real-life observation.

The field trip further strengthened the children's understanding of the theme Our Senses. They listened carefully to the sounds around them, including the fire station siren and traffic noise, and recognised how their ears help them hear. They also used their eyes to observe their surroundings and explored the concepts of hot and cold through practical experiences, making learning meaningful and memorable.

The visit was a perfect blend of education and experience, transforming classroom concepts into real-life learning. It not only deepened the children's understanding of safety but also nurtured observation skills, curiosity, confidence, and respect for the everyday heroes who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
