Report on the Altar Servers Rally
Ms. Sydelle Mascarenhas
An Altar Servers Rally was held on Sunday, 19th January, 2026, at Fr. Bernard Hall.
Don Bosco Youth Services, Matunga organized the rally with the inspiring theme “The Joy of the Lord is My Strength.” Students of Standards VII and VIII participated enthusiastically in the programme along with the staff animators Mrs. Reena Louis, Mrs. Flavia Fernandes, and
Ms. Sydelle Mascarenhas.
All the students and staff members were provided with jerseys and refreshments for the programme, adding to the spirit and unity of the event. The rally began on a lively note with action songs and ice-breaker activities, which created an atmosphere of joy and participation. This was followed by an engaging session on Joy, helping the students understand the importance of joy in their service at the altar.
A spiritually enriching talk was delivered by the Shrine Rector, Rev. Fr. Edwin D’souza, who inspired the students to serve the Lord with dedication and happiness. The programme also included an interesting quiz on the use of various sacred vessels used in the sacristy and during Holy Mass, which enhanced the students’ liturgical knowledge.
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, our school boys presented an action song based on the theme, which was well appreciated by all present.
The day concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass. The mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joyston Machado along with the concelebrants Rev. Fr. Godfrey D’souza, the Rector of Don Bosco High School, Matunga and Rev. Fr. Leon Cruz, the Director of the Don Bosco Youth Services, Matunga. Our school boys actively participated by singing in the choir, under the guidance of Sir Lloyd, making the liturgy prayerful and uplifting.
The Altar Servers Rally was a meaningful and enriching experience. The students gained spiritual insight, strengthened their sense of service, and returned with renewed joy and enthusiasm in their role as altar servers.
