Don Bosco High School, Matunga, proudly installed a large Bisleri bottle-shaped plastic collection point on 29th October 2026 at 2:00 p.m. near the school canteen. This initiative was undertaken by Food with Plastic India, represented by its member Mr. Soham Pandey as part of a UNESCO programme under the guidance of Miss Christina and her team.

Purpose and Benefits

The main aim of this initiative is to encourage students to reduce plastic pollution and develop responsible waste-disposal habits.

• It provides a designated place to collect used plastic bottles and other accepted plastic waste.

• It prevents plastic littering around the school campus.

• It encourages students to practise waste segregation and recycling.

• It promotes environmental awareness and responsible citizenship.

• It helps keep the school surroundings clean and hygienic.

• It motivates boys to participate actively in protecting the environment.

• It supports UNESCO's environmental initiatives by encouraging sustainable practices and spreading awareness about plastic waste management.

Conclusion

This plastic collection point is a meaningful step towards inspiring students to contribute to nature and creating a cleaner, greener and more sustainable school environment. It strengthens the objectives of UNESCO's environmental initiatives by encouraging young students to become responsible environmental citizens. Through this initiative, students learn that every small effort towards reducing plastic waste can make a big difference. It is enjoyed by students to put plastic waste in that collection point instead of throwing here n there
