Mrs Hemangi Sawant

27th February is celebrated as Marathi Bhasha Divas on the birth anniversary of V. V. Shirwadkar, lovingly known as Kusumagraj. To mark this occasion, our school organized a vibrant and meaningful program to honor the pride and richness of the Marathi language.

The celebration began with the morning assembly in Father Bernard Hall. Mrs. Belgaumkar delivered the morning talk, highlighting the importance of Marathi language, literature, and culture. Students of Standards VI and VII formed the audience and enthusiastically witnessed the beginning of the celebration.

Athang from Std. IX D delivered an informative speech explaining the significance of Marathi RajBhasha Divas and Kusumagraj’s contribution to Marathi literature. Mrs. Shushila, HOD of the Marathi Department, warmly welcomed the judges and introduced them to the gathering.

Mrs. Hemangi invited the Principal, Father Flovi, to inaugurate the “My Marathi Sahitya Kala Mandal” (Marathi Literature Club). The Principal officially declared the formation of the Marathi Club and encouraged students to read, write, and cherish Marathi literature. His speech in Marathi was a pleasant surprise and was highly appreciated by all.

The poetry recitation competition began with great enthusiasm:

Std. VII students presented beautiful Marathi poems with confidence and clarity.

Std. VI students recited poems on the topic “Nature” with expressive voice modulation.

Std. V students sang lively Badbad Geet with perfect tune, clear diction, expressive gestures, and impressive voice modulation. Their performance was especially appreciated.

Students also dressed up as inspiring personalities like Shivaji Maharaj, Savitribai Phule, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and Smita Patil, and presented an energetic Powada that filled the hall with pride and enthusiasm.

The entrance was beautifully decorated with creative charts and colorful rangoli by the Marathi Department. The backdrop in the hall was artistically designed, adding grace to the entire event.

Mrs. Dabre, one of the judges, shared her valuable review of the competition. She expressed that she was highly impressed by the students’ confidence, pronunciation, and hard work. She appreciated the sincere efforts taken by the Marathi Department in organizing such a wonderful program.

The event was smoothly conducted, and the students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The overall standard of the performances was excellent, especially the presentations by Std. V and VI students.

The function concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, Principal, teachers, judges, and students for making the celebration a grand success and a true tribute to the Marathi language.
