Provincial Visit: Inspiring Young Minds
“Young people must not only be loved, but they must know that they are loved.”
— Don Bosco
- Ms. Carol Fernandes
On 24th February, a special assembly was organized to warmly welcome the Provincial, Rev. Fr. Ashley Miranda, in the Bernard Hall. The gathering was attended by the students of Std. V, Std. VI, and two classes of Std. VII, along with the staff members.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were Rev. Fr. Ashley Miranda, the Administrator Rev. Fr. Orville, our Rector Rev. Fr. Godfrey, and Rev. Fr. Ajoy. The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the spread of knowledge. This was followed by a graceful prayer dance performed by the children of the Primary Section, invoking God’s blessings on the occasion.
Rev. Fr. Godfrey then delivered the welcome speech, giving the students a brief introduction and background of the Provincial. The Primary School Captain presented a heartfelt welcome address to Rev. Fr. Ashley. As a token of love and appreciation, a potted plant was presented to the Provincial. The students of the KG section performed an energetic and delightful dance, which was followed by a rhythmic dance performance by the students of the Secondary Section. Both performances were appreciated by the audience and added joy to the celebration.
The highlight of the assembly was the address by Rev. Fr. Ashley Miranda. In his inspiring speech, he spoke about the important role teachers play in shaping the lives of students. He encouraged the children to believe in themselves, follow their dreams, and always remain grateful to their teachers for their kindness and guidance. He reminded the students that they were specially chosen by Don Bosco to be a part of this institution and urged them to live up to the values taught in the school.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rev. Fr. Flovi, who expressed gratitude to the Provincial, the dignitaries, the staff, and the students for making the event a memorable one. The event strengthened the bond between the management, staff, and students, leaving a lasting impression on all who were present.
Offering her insight on the occasion, Ms. Pallavi shared her heartfelt thoughts: “Each child is a chosen work of God, not a chance occurrence.” She explained that this beautifully reflects Don Bosco’s vision of education as a sacred mission — one that recognizes the uniqueness and dignity of every child and nurtures them with love, faith, and guidance.
