The Pre-Primary Section celebrated India’s Independence Day with great pride and patriotic fervour through a special programme themed “My India, My Pride.” The celebration aimed to instil in our young learners the values of patriotism, unity, courage, responsibility, and respect for our nation.

The programme began with a warm welcome to our esteemed management, Rector Rev. Fr. Godfrey D’Souza, Principal Rev. Fr. Flovi D’Souza, Administrator Rev. Fr. Orville Coutinho, Fr. Augustine Pereira, Head Teacher of the Primary Section, Ms Griselda Fernandes and KG Supervisor Ms Rochelle D’Souza.

The ceremonial lighting of the lamp marked the beginning of the celebration, followed by a graceful Prayer Dance seeking God’s blessings for our nation. Our little stars then presented a patriotic song, “Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon” filling the atmosphere with joy and national pride.

A highlight of the programme was the Sr. KG children, who portrayed inspiring freedom fighters and national leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Rani Lakshmibai, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Through their confident performances, the children brought alive the values of courage, sacrifice, unity, and patriotism.

The children of the Jr. KG also shared inspiring thoughts and quotes from achievers such as Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Jemimah Rodrigues, P. V. Sindhu, Neeraj Chopra, and Ratan Tata, encouraging everyone to dream big and contribute to the nation.

The performances of the children concluded on a high note, with the children coming together to sing an “Independence Day” song, filling the atmosphere with joy, pride and love for our motherland.

Rev. Fr. Godfrey D’Souza spoke about the importance of becoming good and responsible citizens. He encouraged the children to follow the values demonstrated by our great leaders, keep India clean, and carry these values with them throughout their lives. He also reminded parents of the importance of inculcating good habits and civic values in children from a young age, so that these become a natural part of their lives.

Rev. Fr. Flovi D’Souza reminded parents that at such a young age, children may not yet fully understand the significance of Independence Day; rather, the values and memories created today will stay with them. He emphasised the importance of teaching children to love and be proud of their country, learn from the lives of great leaders, and grow into good and responsible citizens. He reminded everyone that these children are the future of our nation, and that it is our responsibility to guide them from an early age so that they grow up to make our country proud.

The celebration extended into the classrooms through creative activities. Sr. KG children created beautiful tricolour peacocks through a tear-and-stick activity, while Jr. KG children celebrated the spirit of patriotism with a fun paper-crumpling activity to create vibrant Tricolour flags. These activities encouraged creativity and fine motor development while helping the children connect with the colours and spirit of our National Flag.

The Nursery boys also participated enthusiastically in a National Flag sticking activity, creating their own colourful Tricolour flags while learning to recognise and appreciate our national symbol. 

The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, leaving everyone filled with gratitude, pride, and love for our motherland.

The celebration was a meaningful learning experience, reminding our young learners that patriotism is not only about loving our country, but also about respecting others, keeping our surroundings clean, valuing our freedom, following good examples, and becoming responsible citizens.
