The Nursery celebrated 'Vegetable Day' on 26th Sept

Ms. Larissa Fernandes

The Nursery children enjoyed a colourful and exciting Vegetable day, filled with cheerful conversations, creative activities and plenty of opportunities to discover the wonderful world of vegetables.

The day began with the little ones arriving dressed as different vegetables, bringing the classroom alive with vibrant colours and adorable characters. Each child proudly introduced their vegetable and shared a few simple sentences about it. This delightful activity encouraged the children to speak confidently while learning about different vegetables in a fun and engaging way.

A week before the celebration, the children participated in a creative vegetable-themed art activity. Using sponges and colourful paints, they created beautiful impressions on vegetable cut-outs. The teachers then carefully assembled the artwork into a colourful vegetable basket, turning the children's individual creations into a lovely display.

The children also had fun identifying and exploring different vegetables. Through pictures, songs, videos and lively conversations, they learnt about the colours, shapes and textures of various vegetables. They discovered that vegetables come in many different forms and, most importantly, that they are an important part of a healthy diet.

One of the most exciting activities was “Let’s Go Shopping!” The classroom was transformed into a little vegetable market, where the children took turns becoming shopkeepers and customers. Using toy fruits and vegetables and pretend money, they enjoyed buying and selling their favourite produce. Every child got an opportunity to experience both roles, making the activity a wonderful way to develop communication and social skills through imaginative play.

The children also spoke about the vegetables they eat at home and shared their favourites. These simple conversations helped them connect their classroom learning with their everyday experiences and encouraged them to become more curious about the food on their plates.

Through the day's activities, the children learnt that vegetables provide important nutrients that help us grow, stay active and keep our bodies healthy. More importantly, they discovered that healthy food can be colourful, interesting and fun!

With happy faces, enthusiastic little voices and lots of excitement, Vegetable Day became a joyful and memorable learning experience for our Nursery children. It was a wonderful way to nurture healthy eating habits from an early age while making learning joyful, meaningful and delicious!
