Google AI Tools Training Programme for Teachers

A two-day training programme on Google AI Tools namely, Gemini for Education and Notebook LM was conducted for teachers on 18th and 19th August 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Aspire IIT Bombay Research Park Foundation, Powai, Mumbai. The programme aimed to equip educators with the knowledge and practical skills required to use Artificial Intelligence effectively in teaching and learning.

The training commenced at 10:00 a.m. with an address by the Director of SCERT, Dr. Hemant Vasekar, I.A.S. He emphasized the importance of teachers developing familiarity with AI tools such as Google Gemini and Notebook LM, highlighting their potential to support educators in guiding students and creating improved learning experiences.

The programme provided teachers with an insight into the diverse possibilities offered by Artificial Intelligence in education. Participants explored how AI can generate relatable examples, connect new concepts with familiar knowledge, and present information in multiple formats, including text, tables, images and videos. The training also highlighted the importance of safe and responsible AI use, stressing the need for professional oversight and a human-in-the-loop approach to verify, refine and improve AI-generated content.

A significant component of the programme was the introduction of the 4Cs Facilitation Framework i.e. Connections, Concepts and Content, Concrete Practice, and Conclusions. The framework encouraged interactive, collaborative and practice-oriented learning. Teachers had the opportunity to explore practical applications of Gemini for preparing lesson plans, question papers, presentations, quizzes, images, posters, songs, stickers and other engaging visual teaching materials.

The training also focused on the art of effective prompt writing, with emphasis on the key elements of role, task, context, constraints and format. Teachers were further introduced to Notebook LM, which can support educators in summarising documents, answering questions, creating notes and study guides, generating quizzes and flashcards, preparing audio overviews and developing syllabus-based teaching resources.

In the concluding session, Mrs. Manisha Chincholikar from the Education Department, emphasized that all teachers had received hands-on training in Google Gemini and Google Notebook LM. She encouraged the teachers to continue practising these AI tools and to explore their potential in creating effective, interesting and meaningful study materials for students. She highlighted that consistent practice would enable teachers to use these tools with greater confidence and creativity in their classrooms.

The training helped teachers recognise how Artificial Intelligence can support education by enhancing lesson planning, simplifying the creation of teaching resources and making classroom learning more interactive and engaging. Rather than replacing the role of the teacher, the tools were presented as valuable aids that can empower educators to plan thoughtfully and respond more effectively to the diverse learning needs of students.

The session leaving the teachers with valuable insights, practical skills and renewed enthusiasm to integrate AI meaningfully into their teaching practices. The programme served as an important step towards embracing technology while keeping the teacher’s creativity, professional judgement and human connection at the heart of education.
