English Twinning Programme 2026–2027

As part of the Provincial Initiative for the Academic Year 2026–2027 to strengthen English language proficiency among teachers, Don Bosco School, Matunga, partnered with Don Bosco English Medium School, Dakor, to launch the English Twinning Programme through regular online sessions.

The programme commenced on 1st July, 2026 and has been progressing successfully with weekly classes conducted via Google Meet according to a well-planned timetable. The sessions focus on enhancing spoken English, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and classroom communication while fostering collaboration and mutual support between the teachers of both institutions.

The language roadmap for the year was designed by Fr. Jerome Edison. The programme is coordinated by Ms. Sydelle Mascarenhas, who prepared the timetable and oversees its implementation under the guidance of Fr. Flovi D'Souza, with the encouragement of Fr. Godfrey D'Souza and the support of the respective school authorities. A dedicated WhatsApp group facilitates regular communication by sharing instructions, updates, learning resources, and guidance, ensuring active participation throughout the programme.

The online sessions are conducted by a committed team of seven teachers from Don Bosco School, Matunga—Ms. Griselda, Ms. Kashmira, Ms. Samantha, Mr. Llyod, Ms. Carol, Ms. Reena Louis, and Ms. Sydelle. They mentor the participating teachers from Don Bosco English Medium School, Dakor—Ms. Madhavi, Ms. Priyanshi, Mr. Noel, Ms. Shraddha, Ms. Vina, Ms. Arpita, and Ms. Kirti under the coordination of Ms. Jigna. Their dedication and collaborative spirit have created an encouraging learning environment, enabling teachers to participate confidently and steadily improve their English communication skills.

Skills Envisioned to be Strengthened Through the Programme.

The programme aims to develop the following key competencies among the participating teachers:

●     The Twelve Tenses – Building accuracy in the use of English tenses through regular oral and written practice.

●     Vocabulary Development – Expanding vocabulary to improve fluency and confidence in classroom communication.

●     Phonetics and Pronunciation – Enhancing pronunciation through guided reading and speaking exercises.

●     Lesson Delivery and Explanation – Strengthening the ability to present lessons clearly and explain concepts effectively.

●     Conversational Spoken English – Encouraging the practical use of English during classroom teaching and everyday school interactions.

●     Comprehension Skills – Developing reading comprehension through regular reading, followed by oral and written summaries.

●     Questioning and Probing Skills – Training teachers to frame meaningful, analytical, and thought-provoking questions using appropriate question forms.

●     Morning Assembly Presentation Skills – Building confidence in conducting assemblies through effective greetings, storytelling, audience interaction, and concluding with a vote of thanks.

Within the first month, the initiative has already contributed significantly to the professional growth and confidence of the participating teachers. Regular interaction has encouraged the sharing of best teaching practices, strengthened the bond between the two Salesian institutions, and promoted a culture of continuous learning.
