“Painting is self – discovery. Every good artist paints what he is.”- Jackson Pollock
On 18th August 2025, Don Bosco Primary School, Matunga, organized a Drawing Competition for students of Std I to IV. Teachers Ms. Nerissa D`britto and Mrs.Jasmine Samuel planned and conducted this Competition. The event was thoughtfully designed to nurture imagination, foster creativity, and instill environmental awareness among young learners while providing them a platform to express their ideas through art.
The competition was conducted within the classrooms, where students were provided with drawing sheets. As per the guidelines, they carried their own oil pastels and optionally, black sketch pens, which they skillfully used to bring their ideas to life. Each standard was assigned a set of age-appropriate and engaging themes to stimulate their creativity:
Std I: A Rainbow, A Butterfly, My Favourite Cartoon Character
Std II: My Favourite Fruit, A Caterpillar, A Birthday Party
Std III: Save Trees, Save Earth; A Road Safety Poster; My Dream School
Std IV: Save Water, Save Life; Say No to Plastic; Clean and Green India
The students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm, eagerly translating their thoughts into vibrant illustrations. Their drawings reflected not only artistic talent but also innocent perspectives on pressing issues such as environmental conservation, road safety, and sustainable living.
The classrooms came alive with splashes of colour and originality, as every sheet told a unique story. While some children portrayed the beauty of nature through rainbows and butterflies, others conveyed powerful messages about saving trees, conserving water, and keeping the planet green.
The results were truly commendable, with the young artists of the Primary Section showcasing extraordinary imagination, clarity of thought, and aesthetic sense. Their efforts turned the competition into a celebration of creativity and self-expression, leaving a lasting impression on teachers, parents, and peers alike.
. Regardless of the outcome, every participant emerged a winner, as the experience enriched their learning and confidence.
The school extends its heartfelt gratitude to the teachers and parents for their constant encouragement, guidance, and support in making this event a grand success. This competition not only highlighted the talents of budding artists but also reinforced the importance of art as a medium of learning, awareness, and joy.
