Don Bosco High School Matunga Secures Third Place in DSO Subroto  Cup (Zonals)

Don Bosco High School, Matunga displayed tremendous passion, determination and team spirit as they secured an impressive Third Place in the DSO Subroto Zonal Football Tournament, held at the Fr. Agnel’s Multipurpose Sports Ground, Vashi, on 11th and 12th August 2026.

The campaign began on 11th August, when Don Bosco Matunga faced Vadrai School, Palghar in their opening match. The boys put up a disciplined and determined performance to register a 1–0 victory, earning their place in the semi-finals.

 The semi-final, played on 12th August, saw Don Bosco Matunga take on Thakur Public School. Despite their best efforts, the boys went down 2–0. However, they refused to let the disappointment affect their spirit.

The real test of character came immediately thereafter. Having already played a demanding semi-final, the boys had to return to the field for the Third-Place match against Sri Ma School, Thane District. Playing their second match of the day, the team showed remarkable resilience and refused to give in to fatigue.

 With passion, determination and an unwavering desire to bring glory to their school, the boys produced a spirited performance and secured a convincing 3–1 victory, claiming Third Place in the tournament.

This achievement is a testament not merely to the result, but to the tireless efforts, discipline, teamwork and never-say-die attitude of our young footballers. Playing two intense matches on the same day and still finding the energy and determination to fight for a podium finish speaks volumes about their character.

 A special and sincere thank you to our dedicated Senior and Head Coach, Leslie Machado, for his tireless efforts, guidance and unwavering loyalty towards training and developing the boys. His commitment has played an important role in helping the team reach this level.

 The boys can be truly proud of their performance. Their journey in the DSO Subroto Zonal Tournament has once again demonstrated that wearing the Don Bosco jersey means playing with passion, perseverance and pride.
