City Zone Aided & Unaided Schools Sports MeetMrs. Kashmira Rodrigues“Sports do not build character; they reveal it.” – Heywood BrounThe Annual Sports Meet for English Medium Aided and Unaided Schools, organised by the Education Department (City Zone Level: F/N, F/S, G/N, G/S), was held on 4th December 2025 at Don Bosco High School, Matunga, commencing at 7:30 a.m. sharp. The ceremony unfolded with a gracious welcome extended to the esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Muhammad Irfan Shah Qadar Shah, followed by the solemn recitation of the Sportsman’s Prayer and the dignified Sportsman’s Oath. A mesmerising and meticulously synchronised flag drill by the boys of Std. IV infused the atmosphere with vibrancy and precision. The Chief Guest then officially declared the Annual Sports Day open, igniting a sense of anticipation and spirited enthusiasm among all present.The programme showcased an engaging array of events designed for teaching and non-teaching staff, each balancing camaraderie with healthy competition. Head Teachers demonstrated remarkable poise in the book-balancing challenge, while teachers exhibited agility and team spirit in the 100-metre relay and the marble-and-spoon race. The non-teaching staff participated with admirable zeal in lively contests such as balloon-blowing for clerks and picking the gram with a straw for peons, drawing cheerful applause from the spectators. Winners were felicitated with certificates and gleaming medals, while every participant proudly received a participation certificate. Noteworthy achievements included Mrs. Mural Rebello securing second place in the marble-and-spoon relay and Mr. Vijay Raut earning third place in the gram-picking event.Reflecting on the day’s success, Mrs. Reena Ferdinand described the event as “a vibrant confluence of unity, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship—a celebration that strengthened the bond between educators and support staff.” Ms. Nerissa Dbritto echoed this sentiment, stating that “the Sports Meet radiated energy and inclusiveness, proving that the spirit of sport transcends roles and responsibilities.” Indeed, it was a spectacular and unforgettable Sports Day, distinguished by impeccable organisation, spirited participation, and moments of sheer joy that will resonate long after the cheers have faded.
