Catechists' Training Course (CTC) 2025–2026

A Journey of Faith, Formation and Mission

The Catechists’ Training Course (CTC) 2025–2026 was a grace-filled journey held at the Diocese Catechetical Centre (DCC), Bandra, from June 2025 to February 2026, culminating with the Intensive Weekend and Ordination Day on 1st March 2026. It was a year of learning, prayer, fellowship and spiritual growth that prepared us to become better catechists and witnesses of Christ. Ms. Jancy Dharamraj and Ms. Natasha D'Souza had the privilege of representing Don Bosco High School, Matunga, throughout this enriching programme. The culmination ceremony was attended by parish priests, well-wishers and family members. We were also blessed by the presence of Fr. Flovi D'Souza, Principal of Don Bosco High School, Matunga.

The course began with Fr. Vincent's sessions on the History of Catechesis, "Tracing Our Roots; Admiring Our Heritage." His engaging style helped us appreciate the rich heritage of catechesis. The sessions by Sir Clifford and Ms. Judeline on the Pedagogy of Catechesis were equally enriching, with memorable activities such as YAHU and the Missionary Dog Story.

In July, Fr. Walter brought the Bible alive through his enthusiastic teaching, helping us understand salvation history, the history of Israel, and various methods of interpreting Scripture. August's Profession of Faith module, conducted by Fr. Gavin Lopez, deepened our understanding of the Trinity, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and God's immense love revealed through Christ.

September's Liturgy sessions by Fr. Savio helped us understand the Sacraments, Sacramentals, liturgical seasons, and the richness of the Eastern and Western traditions of the Church. In October, Fr. K.T. guided us through Christian Morality, reminding us of the importance of conscience and our constant need to remain connected to God.

The Prayer module in December, conducted by Fr. Dylan, was deeply inspiring. Through his simplicity and personal testimony, he taught us the various forms of prayer and encouraged us to trust God wholeheartedly. In January, Priya and her team introduced us to inclusive education and the challenges faced by children with special needs, helping us become more compassionate catechists.

The much-awaited Intensive Week was a beautiful blend of learning and fun. Mr. Adrian Rosario inspired us with valuable life lessons, while Mrs. Sandra's sessions on Child and Adolescent Development helped us better understand the young people entrusted to our care. Fr. Vincent enriched us with sessions on media in catechesis and liturgical colours, while Fr. Magi and his team made Creative Eco-Catechesis both meaningful and enjoyable.

The assignments and practice teaching sessions throughout the course challenged us to grow in knowledge, confidence and humility. They helped us become better educators and more effective communicators of the faith.

One of the highlights of the programme was the Indian Way of Celebrating the Holy Mass, beautifully animated by Sir Larry. The prayerful atmosphere, meaningful gestures and graceful dances made it a truly memorable spiritual experience.

What made this journey even more special was the warmth and sense of family we experienced. We are especially grateful to Ms. Judeline for her care and encouragement, Ms. Nancy for her warm welcome, and Selma for her cheerful presence. Our sincere thanks also go to Fr. Vincent, Sir Clifford, Ms. Gracy, Sir Macjoyle, Ms. Roohi, Ms. Zita, Ms. Annie, Ms. Philomena, Ms. Jacintha, Sir Agnel, Sir Gladwyn, Sir Ivor and the entire CTC team for their dedication and support.

The Catechists' Training Course was far more than a programme of study. It deepened our faith, strengthened our mission and equipped us to share God's Word with greater conviction and joy. We remain grateful to everyone who journeyed with us and helped us grow into committed catechists for the Church.
