Two staff communities celebrate the feast of Don Bosco in style!

On the occasion of the feast of St. John Bosco, the staff communities of Don Bosco High School, Matunga and Don Bosco International School, Matunga, came together on 31st Jan 2018 to celebrate their patron saint and founder. Over 200 strong combined staff joined in the Eucharistic celebration in the Shrine crypt at 10.30 am presided over by Rector, Fr. Crispino D’Souza, and joined by the Principal, Fr. Bernard Fernandes and Administrator, Fr. Roy Noronha in the concelebration. In his homily, Fr. Crispino shared the lives of different Salesians who impacted his life during his impressionable years (Std 8th to 13th) and helped him become a good Salesian. This was Don Bosco – whom he never saw and met in his life – that Fr. Crisipino encountered in these Salesians, and he welcomed all to be living witnesses of our father and founder Don Bosco. The well animated mass was followed by some mouth watering ‘chaat’ snacks in the quadrangle. However, the most boisterous and fun moments were set aside for the party games (organized by Fr. Leon Rodrigues with his team of youngsters) and the get-together that followed. Camaraderie and laughter, friendly chats, ‘naughty’ sidestepping of the rules of the party games, dancing, the appetizing meal… were but some of the fond memories of the day.
Said DBHS supervisor Ms. Anita, “I am so glad to be associated with the management and our core team in the platinum jubilee year of our school. The culmination of our jubilee was so fitting… The coming together of two families. A memorable one for all of us. A new beginning to a great future!” Ms. Christina Mascarenhas, another senior DBHS supervisor quipped, “The beginning of something good.” It was indeed a happy meeting place for the two staff communities and the members couldn’t wait for the next reunion to happen. As Mrs. MeenaSaldanha, Principal of DBIS, put it succinctly, “It’s time we come together for our outings and educational programmes.” Way ahead for a meaningful collaboration!
