Ms. Tejashree Vesvikar
“Speech is power, speech is to persuade to convert, to compel” said Ralph Waldo Emerson. To develop the ability to express their feelings and thoughts through use of speech, the students of the Primary Section of Don Bosco High School Matunga had training sessions once every week during school hours throughout the year in interactive Speech and Drama in their respective classes. At the end of this training program Raell Padamsee’s ACE Productions organized an Annual day to stage the talents of the students and develop confidence in them through stimulated Conversational English Speech. Appropriate skills in developing speech were conducted with the help and planning of Mrs. Griselda Fernandes, Head Teacher of the Primary Section. Raell Padamsee’s Annual Day for Std.III and IV was held on February 24, 2020 and for Std. I and II on March 2, 2020 in the Conference Hall of Don Bosco High School.
A group of parents were invited for the show from each class. The team of instructors were well organised with costumes and stage décor. The shiny curtains used as stage backdrop attracted the attention of the parents. Ms. Koeli, a RaellPadamsee instructor welcomed the parents and introduced ACE with a short introductory note. The students were well trained for their performance. Each class was given a different activity to perform on the stage. A variety of activities were performed based on imagination development, expressions, vocabulary building recitation of poems, pronunciation, conversational speech, mime, use of prop etc.
The young actors gave it their best on stage. Every student of the class portrayed himself with versatility and confidence. The parents enjoyed interacting with the kids on stage and earned stars for giving the right answers. The parents were amazed to see their own child performing with elan. The team of Raell Padamsee instructors interacted with the parents throughout the show providing necessary details of the activity being staged.
Every student received a Certificate from ACE for completing the Speech and Drama course in this academic year. The Head Teacher thanked the parents for being an involved and interactive audience. She applauded the efforts of the entire production team for their valuable support and help during the academic year to boost the children`s confidence and for enabling them to overcome their stage fear.
