The Annual Camp for our Scouts, RSP and NCC cadets of 2019-20 was held from 21st December to 23rd December 2019. 105 Scouts and 85 RSP cadets and 38 NCC cadets gathered in the morning of 21st December all geared up to proceed to their destination for their much awaited Annual Camp. The venue chosen for the camp was the Pinewood Resort, Karjat, Maharashtra. The Scouts, RSP and the NCC cadets were accompanied by their Scout Masters, RSP Wardens and NCC chiefs- Mr.Manoj, Mr.Rajesh, Mr.Sham, Mr.Nihal, Mr.Rakesh and Mr.Melvynn. They were accompanied by the AHM, Mr. Clifford throughout their camping days.
The scope of any camp is to provide not only fun and frolic but also for a deeper look into one’s troop organization for the execution of the fundamental mission of the movement through recreation. Scouting, NCC and RSP achieves its purpose to help young people develop physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. Students also develop the spirit of tolerance and brotherhood.
Each troupe had different schedule for each of the days based on the specific activities to be performed by them. The NCC cadets undertook their trekking venture to the Kondana Cave which was indeed an enriching experience which came to an end with a scrumptious lunch prepared by the villagers. Various adventure activities were organized for the Scouts. These included activities like rappelling, river crossing, trekking etc. The additional activities for the scouts included First Aid, knowledge about Scouting Movement, useful knots, and whistle signs, use of different stretchers, wood craft signs, reporting, campfire, flag Break and Colour party.
The specific RSP activities comprised First Aid and Road Safety. Flag break procedure was followed by a prayer service. The NCC cadets had a Seminar conducted on different job opportunities in the armed FORCES and trekking management. A Group Discussion on Harmful Effects of Social Media and its impact on DISCIPLINE in the school was an important element of personality development of a cadet. A visit to the bakery was also organized. First hand experiences were truly enlightening and the students learnt many useful lessons.
The other attractions at the camp included a self-defense work shop specially conducted by SENSIE ANIL KADAM 6TH DEGREE BLACK BELT organized for all the students. Another work shop was specially conducted by a resource person Mr. Anil Sawant from the Mumbai Traffic training Police Department on Road Safety awareness. A Professional Car mechanic was invited to demonstrate the basics of car maintenance and things to keep in mind while going on a long distance travel. A NATURE trail was organized for the boys to instill in them the love for nature and their responsibility for preserving it. This camp provided a much needed break for the boys.
Swimming pool facilities with slides and games were organized for the students during their leisure time. A Camp Fire with the cultural programme was the most entertaining part of the camp. Points were awarded for reporting, Rota duty, discipline and completion of the given adventure tasks. Prizes were given to the Best Scout Patrol and the Best RSP troop at the camp, besides the best recruit Scout and RSP cadet. The troop leaders were also awarded with a certificate of merit.
The boys returned on 23 December evening from the camp. It was a rewarding experience for the Scouts, RSP and the NCC cadets.
