A Virtual Field Trip to the Amul Milk Factory.
-Ms. Sydelle Mascarenhas
A Virtual Field Trip for the students of Std 8 was conducted on Friday, 22nd January, 2021. The students were virtually taken to the Amul Milk Factory. Prior preparations were done to plan and organize the field trip for the students.
This year with the current pandemic situation around, the students didn’t expect a field trip. During the Social Studies Meet class the teachers informed the boys about the field trip and they were delighted and excited with this prospect.
On the day of the field trip a meet link was sent by the teachers and the students joined the meet on time. The classes witnessed a good number of the boys present for the virtual field trip. The teachers and boys invoked God’s blessings on the day’s program through the morning prayer.
The teacher in-charge surprised the students with a glass of milk in her hand posed the question, “Do you want to know more?” The students responded excitedly in the affirmative and a PowerPoint presentation was shown to the boys following the video of the Amul Milk factory. It was a guided tour where the process of milk collection, processing, supplying and distribution was explained in detail through the video. The students watched the video presentation and made notes of the points that would be required while writing a report. Through the video presentation the boys learnt about the need and importance of a field trip, gained information about the White Revolution, facts about the brand Amul and the work done by the Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union (Amul).
After the virtual tour, a discussion session was held where the students shared their views on the benefits of drinking milk. Various products offered by Amul were shown in the presentation and an activity was conducted on the spot where the students were asked to get any Amul product from their refrigerator and flash it on screen. The boys and the teachers actively participated in this activity.
The teachers explained the format of report writing and the boys were given certain points to follow while writing the report. The virtual field trip was enriching and the boys thanked their teachers for conducting the virtual field trip for them. The children indeed got a virtual taste of the milk and its products through Amul- The Taste of India!
