PTA General Body meeting of the Primary Section
by Ms. Richa Singh
The PTA General Body meeting of the Primary section was held on 23rd June, 2018 in the Gymnasium at 7.45 am for parents of Stds 3 and 4 and 9.30 am for Stds 1 and 2. The meeting began with the secretary, Ms. Cleffy DSouza welcoming the gathering and inviting the Rector Rev. Fr. Crispino DSouza, to lead the congregation in prayer. After prayers, the Principal Rev Fr. Bernard Fernandes spelt out the purpose of the meeting viz. the education and growth of the children entrusted to our care. He declared the remarkable SSC results and singled out for special praise the toppers who were also part of the student council for judiciously balancing study and activity.
The Principal then introduced the members of the management and the staff to the parents and explained the protocol followed in addressing situations that arise on the campus. He thanked the Rector, Rev.Fr. Crispino D’Souza and the Administrator, Fr. Roy Noronha for the work and planning in the laying of the new football Astroturf as well as the painting and maintenance of the school building.
Addressing the parents, the Rector, Fr. Crispino D’Souza congratulated the dedicated DB staff for the good SSC results. The greatness of our school lies not in the huge campus or the big sports ground that we have but in its teachers; the teachers work very hard and sincerely with the children, especially those who are weak in studies, financially and emotionally. Good care is taken of such children. Fr. Rector conveyed the message given by the Rector Major to the whole Don Bosco family which says “Let us Learn to Cultivate the Art of Listening and Accompaniment” and the related theme of the school this scholastic year viz. My neighbor, my responsibility.
Fr. Principal thereafter continued with a few important communications and instructions related to the school and its functioning, the projects and activities, rules and guidelines, budget and expenses, beyond academics and remediation. The Head teacher, Mrs. Griselda Fernandes made a mention of the Cultural days that would resume this scholastic year after a break of last year owing to the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the school. These days provide the platform for our young children to showcase their talent and gain in confidence. Mrs. Griselda read out the rationale and objectives of the PTA, after which the parents proceeded to their classes for the election of the PTA executive body members.
We all look forward to an enriching and rewarding scholastic year ahead.
