“Peace on earth will come to stay, when we live Christmas every day.”
Christmas Panorama-Day Two
-Ms. Sydelle Mascarenhas
This year the season of Christmas looked much different for the students of Don Bosco High School, Matunga. On 19th December, 2020, the second day of the Christmas Panorama, we continued with the virtual celebration of the Christmas Panorama. A variety of events were planned and conducted for the boys.
The students geared up for the celebration. They joined the meet on time. The class teachers led the students into prayer and prayed for the success of the programme. Following the tradition of presenting the Class Assembly, the students of Class 8C along with their class teacher Mrs. Gracy Gonsalves presented a virtual assembly on the topic ‘The true meaning of Christmas is Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.’ Our Rector Rev. Fr. Crispino D’souza placed the statue of baby Jesus into the crib. A meaningful story with a valuable message was presented to the staff and students.
Through the Christmas Message Rev. Fr. Crispino D’souza conveyed the true essence of Christmas, namely the birth of Jesus Christ. Fr. Rector mentioned about the change of the impossible to possible in our lives. Christmas is the time when people from all over the world come to celebrate Christmas with their families. Christmas is all about caring and sharing.
The school band played the Christmas carols. The soothing sound of the music produced fabulous results with the accompaniment. The boys were thrilled watching the students perform with the different instruments. A video on the Christmas crib decoration was presented where the students from the standards 5th to 10th participated in the competition where they decorated the Cribs at home to prepare themselves for Christmas.
Keeping in mind the online screen time, short intervals were given to the students to refresh themselves and to be ready for the next event. Online Games were conducted for the students where they participated eagerly and responded well.
The synchronised dance performances brought cheer to all the students who patiently watched the videos of the participants who performed different dance styles. The students then watched the videos of the contestants selected for Bosco King and the various rounds of this competition. The students were truly eager to know the winner who would be given the title ‘Bosco King 2020-2021’. The results would be declared post-Christmas break. Some children also shared their views that they would love to participate in the Bosco King Contest and will start preparing themselves from now so that they could do well in the future.
Our Principal Rev. Fr. Bernard Fernandes addressed the children on the message that Christmas is a birthday story. The narration of the story gave an insight about the birth of Jesus Christ that brought about joy and happiness. With the Covid pandemic surrounding us we couldn’t have any grand celebrations or events but Life is much more than an external celebration or public display of our emotions. Life is a moment that needs to be lived deep within. We need to embrace it. Fr. Bernard also urged the children to read the message in the December Issue of the Don Bosco Magazine. The children were excited to hear the Principal’s message and in return they unmuted their mics and wished Fr. Principal Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The virtual Celebration of the Christmas Panorama was indeed successful with the enthusiastic participation of the children in all the events organized for them. The management and staff truly appreciated the efforts put by the children. The positive feedback received from the parents was commendable.
