A virtual Independence Day Celebration at Don Bosco Primary School

“May the light of freedom, coming to all darkened lands, flame brightly until at last the darkness is no more.” Dwight D. Eisenhower
Independence Day celebrations at school often mean beautifully decorated classrooms with charts and posters of the national flag’s colours, students proudly singing our national anthem and looking forward to present some amazing art work and worksheets done by them.
But this year, Covid-19 has shut schools indefinitely and added a twist to the 74th Independence Day celebrations. Due to the pandemic still raging, the Independence Day celebration shifted to an online platform. The teachers went digital to connect with students and parents to make this celebration a memorable one. To commemorate the 74 years of Independence, the teachers along with the head teacher worked meticulously to make this day an eventful one. Class teachers of each standard connected with parents and students through Google meet at 8am. A video presentation on Independence Day was presented for the students to watch. Students were given an activity and a worksheet to be done at home on this occasion. This activity was posted in Google classroom.
The celebration ended by thanking the parents for joining this virtual celebration. Being the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother, mass at 9.30 am was streamed on a digital platform. Parents and students participated in this joyous celebration.
