Our news desk during the lockdown period-Special remembrance of Fr. Rector on his birthday and other news
-School correspondent

The lock down period on account of the COVID-19 (Corona Virus) pandemic that began on the morn of 22nd March 2020 in Maharashtra is showing no sign of a relief given the rising cases in India, Maharashtra and the city of Mumbai. The buzzing school campus is not the same with neither children nor adults and devoid of any activity.
So how have we managed thus far? The teachers communicated with the parents on a regular basis via the school app with scheduled homework and assignment for the student in the initial period of the lockdown. However, following the education department circular stating the cancellation of second term exams and evaluation for Stds. 1 to 8, the homework and assignments were substituted by creative resource material for learning and indoor activity.
Many parents are sending the work of their children – art, poetry, essays, craft, inventions etc. – done during the lockdown period to the staff which are subsequently published on the school website and the school facebook page. This is our way of encouraging and motivating our students to be proactive and engaged during these trying times. The Principal Fr. Bernard Fernandes too shared a video link providing some tips for a healthy purposeful living during the days of the corona virus lockdown. We have provided the entire text of this video message along with the video link on the Principal’s Desk of the school website. https://donboscomatunga.com/about-us/principals-desk/
On the 5th of April, our dear Fr. Rector, Fr. Crispino D’Souza celebrated his birthday. We missed having a celebration for him on account of the lock down. However this much deserved celebration in his honour that was curtailed surely hasn’t diminished our love and esteem for him. The three sections – Secondary, Kg and Primary – together with the staff sent specially crafted cards and messages to him through the social media. A part of the message to Fr. Crispino by the secondary section read: “The simplicity with which you approach life has influenced tens of thousands of students. You handle popularity and public acclaim with elegance and detachment. We are truly inspired by you.” May God continue to bless and protect Fr. Rector.
We continue to work and pray together for a speedy solution to the ongoing Corona virus endemic. Our prayers and concern will surely go a long way to the healing of the wounds inflicted by this virus.
