Lent:Time to Repent and Forgive
-Ms Jansi Dharamraj
“Remember man you are dust and into dust shall you return.”- GENESIS 3:19
On the occasion of Ash Wednesday, on 26th February, 2020 all the Catholic students and staff of DBHS and DBIS Matunga gathered in the shrine to celebrate the beginning of the Holy season of Lent with the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Mylin Noronha was the main celebrant of the Eucharist. Fr Bernard Fernandes the principal, Fr Crispino D’Souza the rector, and Fr Leon Rodrigues were the con- celebrants at the mass. There were also parents and devotees who joined in the celebration of the Eucharist.
Fr Mylin began his sermon by wishing ‘Happy Lent,’ which astounded the crowd. Further he explained the reason for ‘Happy Lent’ by using practical ways of the traffic symbols such as STOP- which means one has to stop and reflect on his/her life and do good deeds especially during this season of Lent, next U-TURN- which means, ‘Come back to the Lord, our God with all your heart’, avoid all not so good deeds and finally ONE WAY or Go-STRAIGHT-meaning one has to follow the right path shown by Jesus and walk straight in the way, the narrow path which is the actual way of a Christian.
At the end of the Eucharist, Fr Bernard Fernandes thanked Mrs Elizabeth Soares for a well animated liturgy and the choir conducted by Mrs Daphne and Sir Sherone for their beautiful singing.
