International Students’ day and National reading day (Std 9 and 10)
-Mrs. Bela Mehta
The International students’ day and National reading day was celebrated on 15 October to commemorate the birth anniversary of our former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam a renowned scientist, philosopher and teacher. In our school, we celebrated this day on 16th October 2020.
Each class of Std 9 and 10 organized a short online programme. The students viewed videos and power point presentations where they got a glimpse of the missile man from Rameshwaram to Rashtrapati Bhuvan.
Inspiring incidents of Dr. Abdul Kalam’s life were discussed which enthused and impressed the students. Motivational quotes of Dr. Kalam prompted the students to work hard and pursue their goals. Stories and speeches highlighting Abdul Kalam’s life and his contribution to the world were shared. The students were introduced to some of his famous books. Some avid readers discussed the summary of his autobiography Wings of Fire which instilled values of patience, tolerance, dedication and discipline. Since it was National Reading day too, the students were encouraged to read his phenomenal and knowledgeable books. The students also took part in a quiz on Abdul Kalam. They were also asked to share their learning in the form of assignment.
The programme ended leaving the students inspired, motivated, charged and confident.
