‘Be the change you wish to see in the world.’-Mahatma Gandhi
In today’s world where everyone focuses more on their economic growth, one should not forget that we primarily depend on our mother Earth than anything else. We cannot continue destroying our only home. It’s our responsibility to take care of it. Hence, to spread awareness on the importance of protecting our home, the students of Nature Club, Don Bosco High School, Matunga conducted an awareness drive within the school premises on 4th of October, 2019.
Few members of the Nature Club by means of a dialogue and a speech sensitized the students of the school about increasing air pollution in our country. They mainly focused on the effects of increasing human and vehicle population with decreasing forest cover for urbanization and the effects of our festivals. The students were made aware of the ill effects of bursting fire crackers during festivals like Diwali, etc. making an appeal to one and all to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali.
After the talk over the intercom, there were videos played in all classes with a presentation being displayed, emphasizing the effects of air pollution on humans and the climate change. The Nature Club students of DBHS, Matunga follow and believe in a quote given by Margaret Mead,
‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.’
