-Mr. Barrington Serrao

The hockey season has drawn to a close. But not before our school reaped a rich harvest of medals and titles in the different age categories and tournaments to stamp their authority and prove their class in a game rich in skills and stamina, yet losing out on the public appeal that it so richly deserves.

The concluding tournament of the hockey season and for the scholastic year was the MSSA organized u-14 and u-12 inter-school hockey tournament at Stanislaus, Bandra. The finals and the 3rd/4th place matches were played on 22nd February 2018. Each of our 4 teams representing the two age categories featured in the final day’s matches. Our school u-14 A team emerged champions of the MSSA organized inter-school hockey tournament. The team lifted the Fr. Donnelly Cup defeating the school B team 4-0 in an all Don Bosco Matunga final. In the u-12 category, our A team won the runners-up trophy losing narrowly to St. Stanislaus in the final. In the same category, the B team won the 4th place.
The skill and superiority of our u-14 team boys were evident in the tournament having outclassed their opponents in the earlier rounds. The goal keeper of the B team, Master Chris Johnson was instrumental in helping the team reach the finals after his spectacular show against St. Stanislaus and Dominic Savio, Andheri in the quarter finals and semi finals. Chris was awarded the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

In another edition of the MSSA tournament of which the finals were held on 15th February, it was 1-2-3-4 for Bosco’s! It was quite a tournament for the Boscoites. Our u-10 ‘A’ team bagged the first place defeating Stanislaus, Bandra 1-0 in the finals, while the u-12 ‘A’ team bagged the runners-up position losing to Stanilaus 5-4 in the finals of the Olympian Walter D’Souza trophy. The u-10 ‘B’ team won the 3rd place, while it was no.4 for the u-12 ‘A’ team.

Congratulations to our boys, coaches and their parents!
