Hip! Hip! Hurray! It’s Picnic Time
-Ms. Kashmira Rodrigues
A picnic is more than eating a meal. It is a pleasurable state of mind.
The enthusiasm of the students was at a peak on August 21, 2019 as they eagerly awaited their class picnic. It was a break from the regular routine to a relaxing day where the boys of the Primary Section of the school enjoyed a day full of fun and frolic. The students set out for their class picnic to KidZania. The buses lined up in the school quadrangle to ferry the students accompanied by their teachers to have a rollicking time with their friends.
KidZania is an interactive city made for children from the age group of 1-14 years that combines inspiration, fun and learning through realistic role-play. Kids can independently explore a scaled city of over 7,000 square meters with more than 100 exciting careers that they can try. Through ultra realistic role-play, children learn about different careers, the inner-workings of a city and the concept of managing money. Each experience is designed to empower kids, giving them the confidence to be their best selves. The children had an opportunity of having adult-like experiences while assuming the role of firemen, construction workers, police officers, and fashion designers, doctors, bakers, dabbawallas, courier boys, among others. The KidZania city operates with a proprietary currency named “kidZo”, which enables participants to learn about monetary management. Each student was given 50 kidZo which they could utilize at their disposal.
“Life is more fun if you enjoy it to the fullest.”That’s exactly what the Bosco boys did. The students had a great time and entertained themselves at the thrilling adventures and various activities along with their teachers to help and guide them when needed. The enthusiasm of the children was infectious and everyone around seemed to catch the mood. This in turn created a good appetite for the students who enjoyed a hot sumptuous meal served for them. It was a memorable day for the boys, they had their moments of relaxation, fun and recreation!
KidZania is about playful learning and taking as a basis that children “learn by doing”, rightly said by Amy a parent of Std IV D.
