Rector Fr.Crispino Dsouza led the gathering into a time of meaningful prayer. The Principal Rev. Fr. Bernard Fernandes welcomed the parents and then introduced the esteemed members of the Management, the Asst Head Master, the Coordinator, Supervisors, Class teachers and Associate teachers to the parents. He announced that the purpose of the meeting was to address the common goal viz. the growth and education of children, and hence to discuss the ways we could reach this goal, by reflecting on the practices of the school, the dos and donts, the budget, the fees , the maintenance, the syllabus and the formation of the PTA Executive Body.
The Principal declared the exceptional results of the students at the SSC Board Exams. He gave a detailed analysis of the results, the number of students securing 90 per cent and above, students with distinction and the other grades. He made a special mention of three students who topped the school, Master Aakarsh Nair, Master Siddhartha Gupta and Master Het Dawda who were student council members. They were able to strike a balance with their academic studies and varied responsibilities. He encouraged parents to urge students to be part of the student council as it was an excellent platform for leadership and growth.
Fr Principal invited Rev Fr Rector to address the parents and present the gathering the message for this year. Fr Rector took this opportunity to congratulate the school for the fabulous results achieved year after year, making a special mention of the dedicated and wonderful staff at DBHS Matunga. Fr Rector spoke briefly on the Rector Major’s message to the Salesian family this year: Let us Learn to cultivate the art of Listening and Accompaniment. The theme of the school this year, “My neighbour, my responsibility”, is a close reflection of the message of our Rector Major Fr. Angel Fernandez.
The Principal, Fr. Bernard Fernandes then touched upon the various points on the agenda, thanking in a special way the administrator and Vice Principal, Fr. Roy Noronha for the maintenance and projects in the school during the summer vacation, and Fr. Rector for going the extra mile to ensure the smooth preparation and laying of the new football astro turf on the school grounds.
Thereafter the parents moved to their respective classrooms for the election of the PTA executive body representatives for the new scholastic year.
