Fr. Rector’s birthday celebrations and unveiling of dedication stone at the newly laid hockey turf
-Mr. Nelson D’Souza

It was a joyous occasion in the school on 5th April 2019 for our staff and children. Besides being the last day of the second term examination, it was the birthday of our dear Rector, Fr. Crispino D’Souza. It was an apt occasion to say thanks to Fr. Crispino for being an inspiring example of hard work, love and dedication. His love for the young knows no bounds.

The day began with an Eucharistic celebration by Fr. Crispino in the Shrine of our Blessed Mother. His community as well as Fr. Provincial joined in the concelebration of the Eucharist. A group of staff members, students and friends were present at mass to join in the thanksgiving. Right through the day, there were surprises and celebrations galore for Fr. Rector. The day’s program in school began with the grand entry procession with the school band in attendance. Thereafter there was the felicitation at the morning assembly of the Secondary followed by the Primary section.

The birthday of Fr. Crispino was a fitting occasion to unveil the dedication stone at the newly laid hockey turf in memory of late Fr. Jude D’Mello, ex-Rector and Administrator at DB Matunga. Though the newly hockey turf was inaugurated on 30th March 2019 circumstances didn’t allow the timely unveiling of the dedication stone. At the unveiling ceremony, there was the representative staff of DBHS and DBIS in attendance. Many thanks to Ms. Samia Khan and Mr. Samir Khan for the work in preparing this dedication stone.
The tribute to Fr. Jude reads thus:
Rev. Fr. Jude D’Mello-He stood tall!
Don Bosco Matunga cherishes the abiding memory of late Rev. Fr. Jude D’Mello sdb, Rector and Administrator.
The gift of his progressive mind and loving connect with the young remains to inspire us all.
This dedication is a tribute to Fr Jude who was a gentle crusader of sport with relentless pursuit of quality, opportunities and excellence on the playground.
The culmination of the school celebrations for our birthday boy Fr. Crispino D’Souza was the birthday program with the school staff – teaching and non teaching. We wish Fr. Crispino long life… may he be blessed by God and our Blessed Mother to continue the good work as a dedicated Salesian priest!
