Finding ourselves in giving
Ms. Bindu Keny
Over the last few weeks the school has been reflecting on its theme for the year, My neighbor, my responsibility. The class assemblies have provided the ideal platform to reflect and interiorize the values that arise from this perspective. At their class assembly on 25th July 2018, the students of Std 10 F with the guidance of their class teacher provided some valuable food for thought on the theme FINDING=LOSING that was prominently displayed on the backdrop.
The story unfolds through five boys of Don Bosco High school, Matunga who are trying to interpret the theme of the school for this year. Their interaction with the director of a multispeciality charitable hospital Dr Jeffrey DSilvia helps them in understanding that serving the needy in the society is a fulfilling experience leading to self realization through losing selfishness. The depiction included a song during the meditation at the beginning and another to conclude. The boys also performed a well coordinated dance. Fr Rector, Fr. Crispino Dsouza quoted the example of Nelson Mandela to highlight the importance of forgiving the ones who do wrong to us. Father equated losing oneself to being humble and helpful.
Fr Principal, commending the efforts in conducting the assembly, urged standard 10 boys to be determined and focused and to sustain their level of perseverance till the board exam.
