On the 13th of February 2020, the students of Std-VII of Don Bosco High School , Matunga visited the ‘Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum’ for the field trip. They were accompanied by the supervisor Mrs. Elizabeth Soares, class teachers and associate teachers. ‘Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum’ is located in Byculla, Mumbai. We reached the location around 9:30am.
The students were curious and excited to visit the museum. Different artifacts from China, Japan, Sri-Lanka, Dacca and many other countries were displayed in the museum. There were ivory paintings, photographs on metals, shell carvings, pottery, ornaments, sculptures, ancient tools for art work, various models of Marathas and models of soldiers with different types of suits. Students were amazed to see the excellent collection of artifacts collected from all over the world. India’s rich history of art and culture was seen at one glance. Dioramas depicting Indian lifestyles, historical episodes and mythological narratives were displayed. Embossed silvers, brass and alloys from different regions of the country showing the diversity and uniqueness were also mesmerizing. More so, the artifacts captured the essence of Mumbai and it’s history.
The students had an enriching experience visiting the Museum. It was an informative educational field trip.
