For the first time in the history of Model United Nations – a MUN was hosted at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City by IIMUN between 15th – 17th August 2016.

About 200 students from different schools and colleges all over India were selected as delegates representing various member states of the United Nations.

Don Bosco High School, Matunga – was one of the select institutions for participating in this conference.

The conference commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag on the eve of Independence Day with delegates wearing traditional attire at the iconic United Nations Headquarters located in Manhattan.

The ECOSOC Committee comprised of 35 delegations from various countries. The agenda of the conference was “The Economic and Political Ramifications of Brexit”. Boscoite, Kazi Ahmad represented Japan as a sole delegate in the committee.

He drafted 6 working papers, parts of which were incorporated in the final resolution adopted by the ECOSOC committee. He was also privileged to draft the preamble to the resolution.

On the conclusion of the conference, Kazi Ahmad received a “Special Mention” by the Executive Board of the ECOSOC committee.

He was also amongst the few invited to participate in the Singapore International School’s Model United Nations Conference.
