Dominic Savio Feast day Eucharistic celebration and Prayer Service
Ms. Elizabeth Soares and Ms. Deepa Nathani
St. Dominic Savio, a pupil in the Oratory of Don Bosco is a teenage saint and his simple yet saintly life is a lesson in sanctity and deep resolve. The school celebrated the feast of this great saint on 6th July with a holy mass for the catholic students of the Secondary section and of DBIS, while the other students congregated in the undercroft for a prayer-service.
The main celebrant for the mass was Rev. Fr. Savio Dsouza, the parish priest and Rector of Dominic Savio Church Wadala (E). He was joined at the Eucharist by the concelebrants Rev. Fr. Bernard Fernandes and Rev. Fr. Roy Noronha. Fr. Savio, reflecting on the life of St. Dominic Savio, spoke of the need for sanctity and generosity in our lives. The school choir provided the added joy and solemnity with soulful music, with the staff and students animating the different parts of the liturgy to ensure a meaningful participation by all present.
Prayer is but a conversation with God. The students of Std. 7 C under the guidance of their class teacher led the way in assisting the assembly of staff and students at the prayer service to converse with God. Ms Deepa conducted the mediation that set the tone for a deeper reflection for the remainder of the prayer session. The prayer service highlighted the varied prayers of different religions. Even though we follow different religions and customs we are bound with common thought of peace and oneness. The two songs TERE HAI ZAMEEN TERE ASAMAN and GODS LOVE IS SO WONDERFUL sung were inspiring and reflective. The service concluded with a thought by Fr. Rector on the life of St. Dominic Savio.
