Cubs camp overnight at Karjat
-Ms. Pallavi Hedamba
The cubs group of our school set out for an overnight camp to Pinewoods, Karjat on 2nd Dec. 2017. Four teachers -Ms.Karuna, Ms.Pallavi, Sir Shukla and Sir Nehal – accompanied the group for the camp. The group was showered with blessings and prayers by our own Rev Fr Principal before the departure. Traversing the busy roads of Mumbai and the outskirts of the city, the troupe finally made it to the serene and hilly surroundings of Karjat after two hours. We were welcomed at the venue with the mouth watering and much awaited breakfast.
Next up was a round in the swimming pool followed by lunch and fun outdoor activities planned by the resort people for two exciting hours. A tea break followed, and then we were on an adventure hike. It was a trek to Kondana caves that began at 4.30 pm, and ended by 7 pm. All were exhausted yet enriched. The last part of the day’s plan was the camp fire where the cubs in their respective teams presented a skit each depicting values such as respect, sincerity, etc. These skits were well appreciated by the guests at the camp. The day ended with the prayers before going to bed.
The next day began with an early morning walk to the neighbouring village for an hour. After breakfast, the boys were given another opportunity to play in the pool. This was followed by the solemn and important moment of the camp – investiture of the newly enrolled cubs. Leaving the venue, on our way back, we were taken to the famous Meher bakery where the boys besides enjoying the deliciously baked items, also witnessed the making of the bakery items with the old traditional wooden oven.
We were back in school by 5 pm after an enjoyable and adventurous experience of being together.
