Christmas Field Trip to the Shrine of Don Bosco’s Madonna –
-Ms. Tejashree Vesvikar
“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.”
Christmas is a spirit which permeates every part of our lives and every day. Due to the pandemic crisis, Christmas Field Trip to the Shrine of Don Bosco Madonna was virtually conducted for the students of the Primary section on January 9, 2021. The virtual visit provided live experience of the Silent night to the students visiting the Shrine that rejuvenated the young minds. As rightly quoted by Helen Steiner Rice, “Peace on earth will come to stay, when we live Christmas every day”,
The students of the primary section virtually visited the Shrine. The class teachers narrated the story of Christmas to the children. The love of God towards mankind was beautifully portrayed. It warmed the little hearts and made them realize that love is the light of Christmas. Children observed the crib placed in the Shrine and understood the significance of baby Jesus in the manger and the various statues displayed.
The children prayed with all their hearts, filled with emotions and asking Mother Mary to guide them throughout the new year. Children were satiated with all that they experienced. Students also learnt that “Christmas is a season not only for rejoicing, but of reflection.”
Saransh Dhere, a student of III D commented, “We the students of the Primary Section were fortunate to visit the Shrine of Don Bosco’s Madonna even at these trial times”. “The Virtual Christmas field trip organized today gave us a real-life experience of visiting the church and witnessing the whole story of the birth of Jesus. The church was decorated beautifully.”, quipped Arnav Bakshi of IV A. It was a Christmas Field Trip to remember.
