Celebrating the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule

As it was the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule on 3rd January, we at Don Bosco Primary School,
Matunga celebrated this day with the desired fervour. A PPT having information about Savitribai’s early
life, education, poetry and her other works and death was posted in the respective class Whatsapp
groups. Students learnt that the birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule is celebrated as ‘Balika Divas.’
Detailed information was given about her life and the work she did for girls. Students also learnt that
she was an Indian social reformer, educationist and a renowned poet from Maharashtra. She is regarded
as the first female teacher of India.
To mark this occasion, various activities were organized for the students. Stds I to IV had a speech
competition on the topic Kranti jyoti Savitribai Phule. Students from each standard participated in this
competition. They made a video of three minutes and uploaded it on different social media
handleseg. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. They had to use the hashtag #महिलाशिक्षणदिन,
#मी_सावित्री, # mee_savitri. Seven students from our school participated in this competition.
Savitribai Phule is truly an inspiration… The Light in Darkness-Savitribai Phule, an exceptional Lady who
first Ignited the Spark of being the First Female Teacher in India.
