Celebrating International Yoga Day
-Ms. Blossy D’Silva
International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on 21 June, since its inception in 2015. An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 11 December 2015. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice attributed mostly to India.
Our school celebrated International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2018. In the Primary section, after the morning assembly, a staff member who is the Yoga Instructor read the importance and benefits of yoga in our daily life. She also demonstrated (by way of instructions) different asanas to the students over the intercom, under the guidance of the class teachers. The students performed the asanas enthusiastically. Videos on yoga asanas were viewed by the students in their respective classrooms to make it more practical and effective. The bulletin and class boards were decorated beautifully with charts, flash cards and pictures. The day was enriching and instructive for all.
