Celebrating Father’s Day
-Ms. Alareen Fernandes and Mrs. Shahnaaz Abbas
According to Dan Brown, ‘No love is greater than that of a father for his son.’ Father’s day is a celebration honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood. The daddies of Std. 1 to 4 were invited by their sons on 10th February, 2018 to the Don Bosco School ground to spend quality time and strengthen the bond between them on the occasion of Father and Son Day. Around 550 daddies attended the celebration that was indeed held just for them. “Thank you for organizing this day. This is one thing special about our school.” Fr. Bernard Fernandes, our Principal said.
Invitation cards and bookmarks were prepared by the students with love for their dads during the Art and Craft period. The beautiful backdrop conveyed the message of love of a son for his father. Beautiful messages from the father to the son added colours to the venue like: “I love my son because he is like me with added qualities of his Maa..” Mr. Vivek Bhattacharya mentioned. “I love my son because when I need a miracle, I look into my son’s eyes and realize I’ve already created one.” added Mr. Ansari.
The programme began with a warm welcome by the School Captain, Rudra Shetye and Vice-Captain Keegan Peres followed by a welcome speech given by the Head Teacher, Mrs. Griselda Fernandes. The singers of Std. 1 to 4 sang melodiously to make the daddies feel special. Our Rector, Fr. Crispino D’Souza and Principal, Fr. Bernard Fernandes thanked the parents for coming in large numbers and spending their valuable time on this occasion. The daddies enthusiastically participated in flying kites, spinning tops and playing games with their sons which were organized by the teachers. They were also excited to win the spot prizes for their son and danced sportingly on some peppy songs. Our Head Teacher then extended the vote of thanks. The special effort of the Staff to make this day truly memorable for father and son was noteworthy and commended by the Head Teacher.
“Father & Son Day was excellent and very well organized. The song was touching. Well done.” Mrs. Virginia Sequeira said. “A great event organized by the school to enhance the bond between the father and the child. Thank you to Don Bosco School for making us feel special.” Mentioned Mr. Hoshang Bhathena.
The fun-filled day came to an end with a jam session wherein the daddies danced on some pop music. The revelry of the occasion will remain etched in the hearts and minds of all those who were a part of this special day.
