Art Attack Day-Std I and II
Within each budding artist lies a spark of creativity
-Ms. Tejashree Vesvikar
“Creativity starts at home and lasts for a lifetime.” As rightly quoted, our little budding artists of Std I and II were set free to create their pieces of art at home. The Art Attack Day held on August 18, 2020 sparked off new techniques and forms of art skills in the children of the Primary Section at Don Bosco High School, Matunga.
As rightly quipped by Maryann F. Kohl, “Art is a place for children to learn to trust their ideas, themselves and to explore what is possible.”Children use art to express and show their unique skills. Every child is known to be an artist. Art helps them to understand visual imagery. It encourages creative thinking, boosts self-esteem and provides a sense of accomplishment. This day also relieved the anxiety and fatigue among the children in the pandemic situation.
During the Google Meet session, the parents were notified about the Art Attack Day and explained about how the activity is to be done. The teachers provided necessary information and guidance for performing the activity posted to the children.
The students of Std I learnt a new technique of drawing with the help of numbers and letters. The art of drawing with the outlined numbers inspired children to think innovatively. The little artists of Std II learnt a new style of drawing animals and birds using the their hand to trace. Tracing is a technique that develops eye-hand co-ordination. Here the kids were asked to choose their drawing and trace the contour of their hands by watching the given video.
All students enthusiastically participated with lot of fun and pleasure. The children showed pride in their work and their creations were indeed, admirable.
