A Random Act Of Kindness Is Perfect And Free
-Marossa Fernandes

“Wherever there is a human being, plant or bird, there is an opportunity for a good deed.”
The students of the secondary section of Don Bosco High School, Matunga witnessed a well conducted assembly by class 7B under the guidance of their class teacher, Mrs. Anupama Tiwari. The assembly on the theme ‘Timeless values making our journey joyful and holy’ was presented on Tuesday, 9th July 2019 in the school’s gym area.
The assembly began with meditation guided by Mrs. Bela Mehta. The assembly that followed gave the message to practice ‘random acts of kindness.’ The colourful backdrop echoed this theme. Through a well enacted skit, the students exhibited various ways to be kind and empathetic towards others. The scenes in the act included helping a visually challenged person by reading out to him, paying for the maid’s daughter’s medicine from one’s pocket money, donating leftover food to Roti Bank Volunteers and adopting a stray dog. The assembly concluded with a reflective song based on the same message. The lyrics of the song that said ‘a random act of kindness is perfect and free, it happens when you help a friend unexpected.ly…’ emphasized the message further. The soothing background music played by one of the class students during the entire program lent that extra meaningful mood to the proceedings.
The rector, Father Crispino D’Souza addressed the students and narrated the story of two siblings, Sunita and Sunil who realized that the best outcome that can be achieved is by working together. The principal, Father Bernard Fernandes appreciated the discipline of the students present there as well as the efforts of the students of class 7B and their class teacher.
