“Science is the Poetry of Reality”. I, Atharva Gajakosh the team leader of the project Phytoremediation Potential of E.crassipes from Maharashtra was selected for the 27th National Children’s Science Congress which was held from 27th to 31st December in Trivandrum, Kerala. Around 658 child scientists from all parts of India and the Indian people from Middle East countries participated in this event.
The inauguration of the 27th NCSC was led by MP Mr Shashi Tharoor and Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of Kerala. They inspired us with their speeches on current scientific matters. Later, I attended the scientist programme conducted by Dr. Tessy Thomas, the Missile Woman of India. She enlightened us on the different propellers used in rocket launching. My technical session went very well and the judges were impressed by the amount of the work done in our team’s project in where we focused on our future plans.
At the poster presentation witnessed a variety of research done on different topics by the young scientists. I had to present my project before the child scientists, judges, escort teachers and NAC members and other visitors.
As the meet had representatives from the different states, the national coordinator gave an opportunity for the participants to showcase the tradition and cultures of each state. The ceremony ended with the felicitation of every state and the Middle East countries. The participants were honoured with medals and certificates. I felt that I was on cloud 9 on receiving this honour. I returned to Mumbai on New Year’s Day cherishing my precious moments. I sincerely thank my school for giving me a rich experience to explore in this great world of Science, Technology and Innovation.
