-Ms. Perpetual Nazareth
It is rightly said that the value of life does not depend upon the place we occupy, but the way we occupy that place. Fr.Roy Noronha who took the huge responsibility as an Administrator, Vice-Principal and Sports Director of such an august institution leaves Don Bosco High School, Matunga at the end of this scholastic year to take up the responsibility of an Administrator at Don Bosco, Kurla. He will continue to be in the hearts of all at Matunga for his earnest contribution and for the person he is.
The staff organised a richly deserved farewell programme for Fr. Roy on 27th April in the Conference Hall. Ms. Elizabeth, the compere set the mood for the program in her inimitable style. Ms. Lakshmi read out an address stating that Fr. Roy without doubt was the hidden force in the school. There was a surprise in store for Fr. Roy. The entire staff penned their thoughts on Fr. Roy and these collated messages were framed and presented to him by Ms. Perpetual and Ms. Samruddha. A parody of musical medley of Bollywood songs highlighting the attributes of Fr. Roy presented by Ms.Vailena, Ms.Daphne and Ms. Perpetual were met with peals of laughter from the audience. Ms. Bela with her improvisational style and humour regaled the assembly with a game on how well the staff knew Fr. Roy. The Primary staff belted out Fr.Roy’s favourite song as some staff members presented him placards of the qualities admired in him.
Finally in his farewell speech, with a heavy heart and moist eyes Fr.Roy expressed thanks to each one present saying that he received the love he gave others in large measure. Fr.Roy also sang his favourite number ‘There’s a new world somewhere’ that moved the audience. Fr.Crispino D’Souza, the Rector and Fr. Bernard Fernandes, the Principal thanked Fr. Roy for his valuable support and assured their friendship always. We wish Fr.Roy the best in all that he does and may he continue to touch the lives of others the way only he can!
