SCIENCE AND MATHS FAIR – Interschool Poster making and Poetry competition

The Poster Making Competition and Poetry competition were two events lined up besides a few others at the Interschool Science and Maths Fair at Don Bosco, Matunga as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the school. The competitions were held on 24thAugust 2017 in the activity room of the Primary Building.

The Poster making event began with the registration at 10.45 am.  There were 38 participants who could choose from topics that were announced to them in advance viz.

  1. Natural Resources
  2. Disaster Management
  3. Anti-terrorism
  4. Food safety

The students were given 90 minutes to create their poster. They were all focused and concentrated to produce their matchless work of art.

The event was judged by Mr. Vijay Doke, Mr. Sudhakar Kadam and Mr. Vinay Sawant. The judges scrutinized every poster meticulously and after multiple rounds of deliberations, decided on the three winners:

  1. Snehal Surve from SIWS High School
  2. Aakash Mishra from Sitaram Prakash School
  3. Mandar Kamble from St. Dominic Savio High School

The Poetry composition and Recitation attracted a lukewarm response from the schools. However, the participating representatives were excellent in the composition of their poetry (on the spot) as well as recitation of the same. There were two eminent judges, Mr.Harsh  who has traveled all over the world and is presently writing a book based on his solo bicycle ride from Mumbai to Kanyakumari besides teaching Law and Spanish; and Mr. Gurudutt, a research scholar in biotechnology and debater.  The results of the competition were as follows:

1st Place – Don Bosco Matunga headed by Pranav Jha and Ahmad Kazi
2nd place – Auxilium Convent High school headed by Miss Urvi Waghela and Miss Nisarga Jadhav
3rd Place –  Shreevalabh Ashram English medium school headed by Miss Mehek Kirte and Miss Grushti Bhogle.

The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony, felicitation of the judges and a vote of thanks.
