26TH BOSCO SPORTS FESTIVAL-2017 – SPORTS STRENGTHENS THE BOSCO FAMILY

The 26th BOSCO SPORTS FESTIVAL of our school was held on 25th Nov.2017 in the quadrangle of our very own school. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the welcome to the Chief Guest Mr. Hiramani Shukla and the School Management .They were led by our lucky charm for good luck, our Mascot –the family of HoneyBees, and the musical beats by the School Band. The Mascot conveyed the message for the day – to demonstrate teamwork, honest communication, patience and cooperation. The auspicious day commenced with the invocation to the Almighty through prayer. Thereafter the Chief Guest Mr. Shukla our esteemed Ex- Physical Education teacher and ranked First Officer of the Ministry of Defence was formally welcomed.
The four houses and the other troupes namely the RSP,NCC and the Scouts participated in the solemn March Past as Mr. Shukla received the salute during the parade. The groups were evaluated for their performance by three esteemed panel of judges-Ms. Smita Kendre -Ex-P.Ed teacher of our school, Mr. Manoj Verma- Asst. Sports Director of Bans Sangha Higher Education Institution and Mr. Manish Dube – Director of the Youth India Organization.
The School Captains, Vice – Captain and House Captains were the flag bearers who handed over the School Flag for the flag hoisting to the Chief Guest with pride and respect. It was a moment of high esteem as sports permeates deeply into every Boscoite and has become an integral part of the school curriculum.
The hoisting of the flag was followed by the sports torch relay. The sports flame was lit by Master Ameen Khan our very own sportsman who is part of the Basketball team and is a skating champion who has won DSO and MSSA Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. The torch was then passed on to our very own teacher Ms. Nicolette and finally obtained by Sir Shelke – Professor in the B.P.C.A Physical College, Wadala and a National Medalist in Gymnastics. The Sportsman prayer was recited by Master Mannan Dang who has represented our school as the Captain for the MSSA U/16 Football team and judged as the best player by the school in the U/12 category and presently playing for the Kenkre Club. The Sportsman Oath was taken by Priyansh Harjai the Captain of the DSO Team and the recipient of the Best Goalkeeper Award .
The School Band musical display captivated the attention of one and all and received admiration for their novelty in presentation.
The Chief Guest during his address stated that he was very happy to be at the inaugural ceremony. He considered that sports was very essential in our day to day life and felt that it has become competitive and challenging in the present time. He then declared the sports festival open.
The sport events like Football,RinkFootball,Volleyball, Basketball,Table Tennis, Carrom, Langdee, Cricket, HandTennis , Chess and Kabaddi were witnessed all through the day. Winners and the runners-up were awarded certificates by the Chief Guest, Fr. Rector, Fr. Roy and Sir Rai. The Chief Guest was thanked thereafter for his presence and valuable guidance with a floral bouquet by Fr. Rector.
The Principal awarded the winning March past squads – the Green house and the scouts – and the Sports Festival winning Blue House team. He also thanked the convenors, the teaching and non- teaching staff for their effort and commitment that made the event so splendid and successful. The lowering of the school flag which marks the end of the closing ceremony was done ceremoniously by the Sports teacher. The Principal declared the 26th Bosco Sports Festival close; this was followed by the extinguishing of the sports flame. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
